SULAIMANI — The Iraqi Minister of Migration and
Displacement, Evan Fayaq, said on Sunday (March 12) the ministry is planning to
return all Iraqi families from a-Hol camp to their homelands, according to
Iraqi News Agency (INA).
According to statistics conducted by the ministry, 31,000 Iraqi citizens live in
al-Hol camp, but not all of them are family members of the Islamic State (ISIS)
members.
Rojava Information Center gave a lower figure, stating in
2022 that 27,000 Iraqis remained in the camp.
Al-Hol camp hosts more than 50,000 Internally Displaced
People in total, including many women and children who are family members of
ISIS militants.
Fayaq said anyone proven to be an ISIS member "will be taken
directly to the courts,” according to INA.
