SULAIMANI — Iraq’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday (May 11) that it recorded 162 coronavirus infections and zero death in the country over the past 24 hours.

Of that total, 55 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 38 in Sulaimani, fourteen in Basra, seven in Erbil, seven in Karbala, seven in Babil, five in Najaf, five in Kirkuk, four in Diyala, four in Dhi Qar, three in Duhok, three in Maysan, three in Muthanna, two in Saladin, two in Wasit, and two in Diwaniya.

The ministry reported zero patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus infection, and 121 recovered from it.

Meanwhile, 17,203 people were vaccinated in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

According to the ministry, 10,567,227 people have been vaccinated in Iraq, a country of more than 40 million, since the shipment of vaccines arrived on February 28.

There have been 2,326,033 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus across Iraq since the virus first appeared in the country.

At least 2,299,572 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and a total of 25,215 people have died from it in Iraq. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
