Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Tuesday described the recent drone attacks targeting oil fields in the Kurdistan Region as terrorist acts and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
Sudani confirmed that the federal government is working closely with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and international coalition forces to investigate the incidents and identify the perpetrators. "We are cooperating with the KRG and our allies to find those behind the attacks,” he said.
He also revealed that Iraqi security forces had successfully thwarted several drone attempts targeting U.S. and Israeli bases via Iraqi territory.
The statement follows a series of drone attacks in recent days, with the latest strike reported on Monday near the borders of Kirkuk and Erbil, affecting multiple oil fields in the area.
