The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) counter-terrorism unit confirmed that a drone attack targeted the DNO oil field in Tawke, located within the autonomous administration of Zakho, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The strike comes just days after similar attacks on oil infrastructure in the Zakho area. According to information from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the drone hit the field at 10:55 a.m., causing no casualties.
The U.S. State Department condemned the attack in a statement, warning that such incidents threaten Iraq’s stability and economic future, and urged an end to assaults on energy sites in the Kurdistan Region.
