The New Generation faction in the Iraqi Parliament announced Monday that it will push for an investigation into the recent killing of citizens during protests, accusing the ruling PUK and KDP parties of responsibility.

Faction leader Sarwa Abdulwahid said the people of the Kurdistan Region are being subjected to injustice, theft, and suppression, adding, "We will not accept the PUK and KDP continuing to treat citizens this way and looting public wealth.”

She emphasized that the failures of the two ruling parties over the past 33 years have deprived citizens of their most basic rights, including fair access to electricity and services. Abdulwahid added that the public is not protesting the 24-hour electricity project, but rather the exorbitant prices and corruption behind it.

She also stressed the need to pressure the outgoing KRG government to reach a fair and constitutional agreement with Baghdad to resolve ongoing issues.
