Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has officially announced the launch of the first phase of a major gas power plant in Salahaddin province, aimed at boosting the country’s electricity supply.
In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Press Office on Saturday, al-Sudani said the Beji II gas power plant has a production capacity of 1,014 megawatts. The project marks a significant step toward addressing Iraq’s chronic electricity shortages, especially during the summer months.
The Prime Minister also revealed plans to lay the foundation stone for a new water project in Salahaddin, as part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure and essential services in the province.
