The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) has announced the suspension of using dip ink in future elections.

In a statement issued Sunday, the commission confirmed that its board of commissioners has officially approved the decision to discontinue the use of dip ink, which was traditionally applied to voters' fingers to prevent multiple voting. The ink typically remained visible for at least 48 hours.

IHEC spokesperson Jumana Ghalai stated that the decision comes as part of efforts to modernize the electoral process through the use of biometric cards and advanced technology to verify voter identity.
