SULAIMANI — Three soldiers were killed in Anbar in a blast from an Improvised
Explosive Device (IED) on Wednesday (February 9), according to a military
source.
A civilian vehicle carrying three soldiers was hit by the explosion on the
main road in al-Rutba district in the west of the governorate, an army officer said.
The source noted the blast killed three soldiers, without providing further
details.
No party has claimed responsibility for the blast but the Islamic State
announced in a previous statement that it has recently intensified attacks against
military and civilian targets in different parts of Iraq.
Iraqi have forces launched campaigns and military operations at frequent
intervals to pursue the organization’s elements throughout the country.
