The Kurdistan Regional Meteorological Directorate announced on Tuesday that the highest snowfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in the highlands of Duhok and Erbil provinces, with snow depth exceeding half a meter in some areas.
According to the statistics, the five areas that recorded the highest snowfall across the Kurdistan Region are:

Mount Pers (Duhok): 60 cm

Haji Omeran (Erbil): 50 cm

Kani Masi (Duhok): 35 cm

Hiran (Erbil): 27 cm

Bamarne (Duhok): 26 cm
In Erbil province, after Haji Omeran and Hiran, snowfall reached 25 cm in Sedakan and Shaqlawa, followed by Choman with 22 cm, Permam with 18 cm, Rawandz with 15 cm, Soran with 11 cm, Koya with 10 cm, Degala with 8 cm, and Khalifan with 6.5 cm.
In Duhok province, significant snowfall was recorded in Sarsang (23 cm), Amedi (20 cm), Zawita, Dinarta and Chamanke (18 cm), Deraluk (17 cm), Mangish (15 cm), and Shiladze, Batufa and Bakrman (13 cm). The lowest snowfall was recorded in central Duhok, with 1.5 cm.
In Sulaimani province, Yakhsamar and Qaladze recorded the highest snowfall at 23 cm, followed by Sarkapkan with 19 cm, Penjwen with 17 cm, Mawat with 12 cm, Takya Kakamand and Ranya with 11 cm, Chawarqurna with 9 cm, Sitak with 5 cm, and Qaradag with 3 cm.
The Kurdistan Regional Meteorological Directorate warned that temperatures are expected to drop further, urging residents—especially in mountainous and high-altitude areas—to take precautions as the cold wave continues.
