A wave of snow and rain is expected to hit the Kurdistan Region starting tomorrow, a weather expert said.
On Thursday, December 8, 2026, Pishtiwan Penjweni, a meteorological expert, said the wave of rain will begin tomorrow afternoon, starting in Erbil, Kirkuk, and Badinan, before spreading to Sulaimanyah province and the Raparin administration.
Penjweni added that snowfall is possible in the high mountainous areas, particularly in Penjwen, Raparin, and Soran.
He warned that the weather conditions will continue for several days, with 25 to 50 mm of rain expected in Sulaimanyah on Friday, raising the risk of floods. On Saturday, temperatures are forecast to drop below zero, bringing very cold weather to the region.
