The New Generation Movement issued a statement on Thursday, August 28, 2025, regarding the court session of its leader, Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir, at the Sulaimani court.

"Despite the militarization of the court, the deployment of hundreds of security forces, and even attacks on several of our parliamentarians and volunteers, the citizens of the Kurdistan Region stood with us and attended the trial of our movement’s leader today,” the statement read.

The movement said that security forces not only surrounded the courthouse but also confiscated the mobile phones of some parliamentarians and volunteers. Nevertheless, supporters gathered both inside and outside the court building to show solidarity.

"On behalf of Mr. Shaswar Abdulwahid and the New Generation Movement, we express our deepest gratitude for the loyalty and support of the people of the Kurdistan Region,” the statement continued.

The movement concluded by reaffirming its determination:

"We reiterate our gratitude and assure everyone that we will continue on this path of justice.”
