Srwa Abdulwahid, leader of the New Generation Movement faction in the Iraqi parliament, criticized the Arab socialist democratic parties currently holding their meeting in Sulaymaniyah, saying they could undermine democracy if they follow the same approach as the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

In her statement, Abdulwahid said:
"If the Arab socialist democratic parties that are holding their meeting in Sulaymaniyah practice their ‘democracy’ in the same manner as the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and if they have an agenda to exclude opponents in the same way that the PUK president does by throwing opposition leaders—especially those from the New Generation Movement, which opposes the government in a civil and nonviolent manner—into prisons, then this means these parties carry an agenda of exclusion and marginalization, and we can say goodbye to democracy.”
