The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) announced an extension to the deadline for biometric voter registration, allowing citizens more time to ensure their eligibility to vote.

Originally set to end earlier, the new deadline has been moved to June 20, giving citizens an additional five days to register or update their voter information.

IHEC emphasized that only individuals with biometric voter cards will be allowed to participate in the upcoming elections. The Commission urged all citizens—especially those with issues related to fingerprint recognition or registration data—to visit election centers to resolve their problems.

The Commission also highlighted that citizens born in 2007 are eligible to vote for the first time and should seize this opportunity to obtain their biometric cards before the deadline.

This extension is part of IHEC’s efforts to boost voter participation and uphold the integrity of the electoral process by ensuring that all eligible voters are properly registered.
