SULAIMANI — Norwegian oil and gas firm, DNO suspended its
oil production in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday (March 29).
The oil company said in a statement that oil production has
stopped in Tawke and Peshkabir in Duhok province.
The two fields produced 107,000 barrels of oil per day in
2022, amounting to 25 percent of the Region's oil revenues, the statement said.
DNO's Executive Chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani said that
unfortunately, at this time when oil price is high, the Region's oil production
have been suspended.
The company's statement also said that before the transfer
of oil to Turkey was halted, 400,000 barrels of oil were transported daily to
Turkey.
Turkey halted the Region’s oil export after the Iraqi government
won an arbitration case against Turkey over the Kurdistan Regional Government’s
(KRG) oil pipeline exports through the Turkish port.
On Tuesday, oil production in Hasira oil field in Garmian
administration was suspended a source from the field told NRT.
