Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the launch of the peace process has helped restore stability to southeastern and eastern Anatolia, stressing that parliament has taken swift steps to end years of fighting.

Speaking on Monday, Erdogan said the two regions had suffered from conflict for many years, resulting in heavy loss of life and depriving young people of a healthy environment for education and development.

"To move away from this state of war, a decision was made to end the conflict and advance quickly toward the peace process, or what we call a ‘Turkey without terrorism,’” he said.

Erdogan added that parliament has fulfilled its responsibilities in supporting the peace process, noting that efforts have accelerated and weapons have been destroyed. "We are confident that people can now move freely in these areas and that peace has been restored,” he said.
