SULAIMANI — A 30 year-old woman was injured in a Turkish air strike that hit a resort in Erbil province on Sunday (October 16), NRT reporter Karim Kaifi said.

The Mayor of Sidakan sub-district in the northeast of Erbil province said Sharmin Assad was visiting the resorts of Robi and Riwal when she was wounded in the bombardment.

Her condition is stable, the mayor said.

Turkey regularly carries out air raids targeting members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region and has at times killed and wounded civilians in its attacks.

Nine people were killed in a Turkish bombardment that struck a tourist resort in Zakho in July, leading Iraq to bring the issue before the UN Security Council and sparking widespread protest against Turkey in the country.
