SULAIMANI — Iraqi Ministry of Health said on Thursday (June
23) two new cases of cholera were recorded in Kirkuk and Baghdad.
The Ministry said the recent case was the first recorded in
Baghdad this year and the total number of cases in the country now stands at
15.
On Wednesday, a source in the health directorate told NRT
two new cases of cholera were recorded in Khanaqin district in Diyala
governorate.
Aso Hawez, the spokesman of the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry
of Health, said on Tuesday the spread of cholera was not normal and it was not
acceptable for the Region to lack clean water.
He said cholera was spread through contact with dirty
drinking water and food, especially vegetables.
