The spokesman of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Tourism Board said that more than 200,000 tourists are expected to arrive in the Kurdistan Region during the New Year holidays, with most visitors coming from central and southern Iraq.

Ibrahim Abdulmajid, spokesman for the KRG Tourism Board, told NRT that preparations to welcome tourists are progressing well. He explained that there is full coordination at the government level between provinces, governorates, urban tourism authorities, and security checkpoints to facilitate the movement and entry of tourists.

He added that at the private sector level, coordination is in place with tourism centers, travel companies, hotels, and restaurants. According to him, there are around 3,100 facilities, centers, and tourist sites across the Kurdistan Region providing tourism services.
