A weather forecaster said that snowfall is expected in the center of Sulaimanyah in early January 2026 as part of the first strong cold wave of the year.
Weather expert Pashtiwan Penjweni told NRT that the Kurdistan Region will be affected by a significant drop in temperatures during the first 10 days of January, which may lead to record low temperatures in Sulaimanyah city center.
He added that snowfall is expected across all mountainous areas and may also extend to the center of Sulaimanyah due to the intensity of the cold wave.
