Khalid Mohammed, a member of the Kurdistan Regional parliament of the New Generation Movement, said on Saturday that recent floods in Taq Taq have severely impacted farmers in the area.
He noted that about 400 to 500 fish ponds have been flooded, resulting in the loss of roughly one million fish and financial losses estimated at one billion dinars.
The MP added that no official party has visited the affected farmers so far. He emphasized that the New Generation Movement is ready to assist them according to its capacity.
According to preliminary statistics, the total damage caused by the recent rains and floods in Taq Taq includes losses to fish farming projects, farmers’ gardens, and tourism related initiatives, amounting to around one billion dinars.
