Brent crude rose nearly $3 to reach $64.65 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange on Wednesday, following U.S. sanctions on Russian oil companies.
Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude edged up to $60.49 per barrel, its highest level since October.
The increase in oil prices comes after the United States imposed sanctions on Russian oil firms, urged Moscow to declare an immediate ceasefire, and warned of additional sanctions if tensions continue.
