The Metro Center for Journalists’ Rights and Advocacy has condemned recent raids on the offices of local and foreign organizations in Sulaimanyah, describing them as clear violations of international humanitarian law.
In a statement on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Metro reported that armed forces raided the Paya office in the Sarchnar neighborhood, near the residence of Lahur Sheikh Jangi and the Lalazar Hotel, during the recent clashes in Lalazar. The raids targeted a building housing several local and international organizations.
According to the report, the forces confiscated money boxes containing project funds, mobile phones, laptops, cameras, employees’ passports, and other personal belongings, transferring them to an unknown location.
Metro stressed that these organizations have no connection to the recent political and armed conflict, rejecting any justification for seizing their property. It demanded an official apology and full compensation for the losses incurred.
