The Iraqi Embassy in Russia has strongly denied reports that 5,000 Iraqis are fighting in the Russian and Ukrainian armies. The embassy clarified that there is no officially authorized representative of the Iraqi community in Russia.
"Claims that 5,000 Iraqis are fighting on both sides, as stated by someone claiming to represent the Iraqi diaspora, are propaganda, untrue, and have no basis,” the embassy said in a statement. It added that it will not issue visas based on such misleading claims, and the only authority for visas to Russia is the Russian Embassy in Baghdad and its consulates in Erbil and Basra.
The embassy warned against deception or involvement in such false accusations and reiterated that no officially authorized Iraqi representatives exist in Russia.
