The Interior Ministry of the outgoing Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has firmly denied reports of Israeli bases in the Kurdistan Region following a drone attack near Erbil International Airport. In an official statement issued on Thursday, July 3, 2025, the ministry clarified that the attack was carried out by Iraqi armed groups and not linked to any Israeli presence.

The ministry said that the drone crash occurred in an open area between the villages of Sebiran and Gazna, near Erbil International Airport, and caused no casualties. It stressed that the incident was aimed at inciting unrest and damaging the region's security reputation.

The KRG Interior Ministry also called on the federal Iraqi government to address these ongoing violations and take legal action against those responsible for such provocative acts. The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over misinformation regarding the security situation in the Kurdistan Region.
