On Monday, May 26, 2025, farmers in Sharazoor staged a protest over the limited amount of wheat being received at the Halabja silo. They expressed frustration that, although the silo was built to receive 40,000 tons of wheat, only 14,000 tons have been delivered so far.
The farmers pointed out that this year’s rainfall was sufficient and wheat production was strong in the region. They questioned why such a large investment in infrastructure would go to waste if the silo is not operating at full capacity. They called on the relevant authorities—particularly the Minister of Agriculture—to address the issue, criticizing what they described as symbolic and inadequate collection efforts, citing the figure of "167.5 kilograms" as an example of the meager intake from some farmers.
