The Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) has announced that more than 1.3 million voters across Iraq have renewed their biometric cards ahead of the May 24 deadline. The renewal process is a critical step in ensuring voter eligibility for upcoming elections.

According to IHEC’s latest data released on Monday, Nineveh province recorded the highest number of renewals with 211,186 registered voters. Baghdad's Rasafa side followed with 137,122 renewals, while Baghdad/Karkh registered 127,702.

Erbil ranked fourth with 95,417 biometric renewals, followed by Salahaddin with 74,808. Anbar and Kirkuk also saw significant numbers, though specific figures were not disclosed.

The biometric card renewal is part of IHEC's broader effort to enhance transparency and prevent electoral fraud. Voters are encouraged to complete the renewal process before the May 24 cutoff to ensure their participation in the democratic process.

IHEC has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating smooth and credible elections and continues to operate biometric registration centers throughout the country.
