Erbil, May 16, 2025 — Three people, including two civil defense employees, lost their lives after falling into an oil and gasoline storage facility at the Kochar refinery in Erbil’s Shamak district.
According to NRT reporters, the incident occurred on Friday when a citizen accidentally fell into the storage area. Two civil defense personnel attempted to rescue him but also fell into the warehouse and tragically died.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
