Draft budget law sent to Iraqi Council of Representatives

SULAIMANI — Iraqi government spokesman Basim al-Awadi announced on Friday (March 17) that the government has delivered the draft budget law to the Council of Representatives.

Awadi said in a statement, "In implementation of the provisions of the Iraqi Constitution and the Federal Financial Management Law, the draft federal budget law of Iraq for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025 was officially handed over to the Council of Representatives."

He also stated the budget includes the implementation of projects, plans, executive programs and development, and provides services to citizens in the financial and economic sectors.

Iraqi PM Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced on Wednesday (March 15) at the 7th International Sulaimani Forum that Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have reached an agreement regarding the 2023 budget law.

Sudani said the 2023 budget law project will help in resolving all outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
