SULAIMANI — ISIS-K, an offshoot of the Islamic State terrorist
group, has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed at least
five in Kabul on Wednesday (January 11).
Taliban officials have given various estimates that range
from between five and 20 people killed in the attack that was carried out in
front of Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry, according to the BBC.
ISIS-K on Telegram claimed the attack had killed 20 people,
including "diplomatic employees.”
According to the BBC, the Taliban stated the perpetrator
attempted to enter the ministry and when that failed, blew himself up outside.
An Italian NGO said they were treating more than 40 people
who were wounded in the blast and casualties were increasing.
