SULAIMANI — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on
Wednesday (September 28) the ministry will summon Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad
to discuss the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) bombardment of the
Kurdistan Region.
Hussein said in a statement that Iran’s ambassador will be
summoned for an immediate meeting on the attack launched on Wednesday.
He stated the ministry’s responsibility was to protect
Iraq’s sovereignty, the country’s citizens and its territory without violence.
Hussein said the poor relations some Iraqi politicians have
experienced with foreign countries has had a negative impact on the country’s
interests.
The IRGC attack, launched with drones and missiles on
Wednesday, struck locations in Sulaimani and Erbil provinces and targeted
Kurdish Iranian opposition groups. The attacks resulted in the deaths of at
least seven people and more than 24 people were injured.
