SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Spokesperson
Jotiar Adil said on Saturday (September 18) disagreements between Erbil and
Baghdad were the cause behind the Kurdistan Region’s lack of a budget law.
Adil said the KRG and the Iraqi federal government had
failed to reach a deal on the Kurdistan Region’s revenue and its share of the
federal budget, leading to the current situation over the Region’s own budget
law.
The KRG has not had a budget law for more than eight years
and a budget law has not been sent to the Kurdistan Parliament, despite a
demand for such a law from opposition forces.
Adil also said the KRG has begun a project to change the
system of receiving salaries to an electronic system.
He added, once the project is finished, government employees
will be able to receive their salaries by using an electronic card.
