SULAIMANI — The
Alliance For the People said they presented a 17-point list of preconditions
for their participation in parliament’s session to elect the president of the
republic but none of their demands have been fulfilled and the New Generation
Movement (NGM) is boycotting the meeting on Wednesday (March 30).
The NGM fraction in
the Iraqi Parliament announced they are boycotting the session until their
demands are met.
The President of the
NGM and leader of the associated Alliance For the People, Shaswar Abdulwahid, warned
on Tuesday the party would not join the parliament session if their
preconditions were not met and said he has asked members of the party to not
attend parliament sessions if they are not in the interest of the public.
The Alliance For the
People presented on Saturday its 17-point list of their demands for reform in
Iraq.
The session to elect
the president of the republic was postponed to Wednesday after parliament was
unable to meet quorum following a boycott of 126 MPs.
