SULAIMANI — A defense lawyer for four imprisoned activists
from Duhok governorate said that their trial was postponed yet again on Monday
(October 4).
Harem Rafat said the court in Erbil postponed the hearing
because two of the judges have been transferred off of the case.
He also said that the defense team believes that the latest
postponement was motivated by a desire to have the hearing after the October 10
parliamentary election.
The defendants have been in pre-trial detention for more
than a year.
The four defendants scheduled to go on trial on Monday were Masoud
Ali, Sherwan Taha, Bandawar Ayub, and Kargar Abbas.
