The Emergency Commission for the Reconstruction of Chamchamal announced that compensation for owners of vehicles damaged by the floods began on Wednesday, December 7, 2026.
Ata Mohammed, Chairman of the Emergency Relief Commission for the Reconstruction of Chamchamal, said during a press conference that this phase includes compensation worth about one billion dinars, with individual payments ranging from 100,000 to 15 million dinars, depending on the level of damage.
He explained that around 800 vehicle owners submitted complaints and compensation requests, of which 694 vehicles were approved. The remaining cases were rejected either for not meeting the requirements or because experts were unable to confirm flood related damage.
According to Mohammed, the compensation amounts were determined by a special committee based on damage assessments.
He added that the next phase of compensation, which will include shops and businesses affected by the floods, is expected to begin next week.
