The Coordination Framework met last night at the residence of former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to discuss the selection of a candidate for the post of prime minister but failed to reach an agreement.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the framework said the next phase in Iraq requires swift steps to form a new government and organize parliamentary committees. It emphasized that the appointment of the prime minister must take place within the constitutional timeframe and in a manner that serves national interests.
The statement added that ending uncertainty surrounding the formation of the new cabinet is essential to ensure political stability and move forward with the government formation process.
