According to reports, Hoshyar Zebari met with Bafel Talabani in Sulaimani, where Zebari discussed the conditions for the presidential election and asked the PUK to nominate several candidates, with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) agreeing to vote for one of them.
However, the PUK has officially put forward Nizar Amedi as its candidate for the presidency, and reports indicate that Shiite political parties have agreed to support his nomination.
