Temperatures are expected to drop to minus 11 degrees Celsius in several parts of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq tonight, Sunday, December 4, 2026, according to weather expert Aras Jabar.
He said the coldest areas will include Haji Omeran at minus 11 degrees Celsius, Penjwen and Amedi at minus 10 degrees Celsius, Mergasur and Kani Masi at minus 8 degrees Celsius, and Barzan at minus 7 degrees Celsius. Even colder conditions are forecast in high mountainous areas, with temperatures expected to reach minus 19 degrees Celsius on Mount Piramagrun and minus 22 degrees Celsius on Mount Halgurd.
In major cities, temperatures are forecast to fall to minus 3 degrees Celsius in Sulaimanyah, zero degrees Celsius in Duhok, Halabja and Erbil, and around two degrees Celsius in Kirkuk.
