The General Directorate of Dams and Water Reservoirs (GDWS) announced that water levels in dams across the Kurdistan Region have risen due to recent heavy rains and snowfall.

In a statement issued today, the directorate said the impact of rainfall and snow in most areas has increased two to three times compared to last year, leading to a significant rise in water inflows and storage in dams.

According to the statement, more than half a billion cubic meters of water has been stored in the Dukan and Darbandikhan dams. Meanwhile, the water level in the Duhok dam has increased by 41 cm, while Darbandikhan recorded a four-meter rise.

The directorate also revealed that one million cubic meters of water has been stored in the Gomaspan Dam, where the water level has risen by one meter.
