Abdullah Ocalan has called for the implementation of the March 10, 2025 agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), saying that enforcing the deal would help facilitate and accelerate the political process.
"The implementation of the agreement will facilitate and accelerate the process. It is very important that Turkey plays a facilitating and constructive role in this process,” Ocalan said.
In a New Year’s message, Ocalan said the Middle East has suffered deep conflict, destruction, and social division over the past century due to nationalism intertwined with imperialist aggression.
The March 10 agreement was signed by Syrian President Ahmed Shara and SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazlum Abdi. It includes a nationwide ceasefire, the integration of civilian and military institutions in northern and eastern Syria into state institutions, and recognition of the Kurdish community as an indigenous component of Syria.
Implementation of the agreement has faced several obstacles, with both sides accusing each other of delays. Recently, the Damascus government submitted a written proposal to the SDF regarding the integration of its forces into three military divisions, as discussions continue ahead of the implementation deadline.
