The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) says it has reached an agreement with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on the principles of forming a new cabinet.
Mahmoud Mohammed, spokesman for the KDP, told a news conference on Monday that the two negotiating delegations agreed on the basic principles for forming the government and will hold another meeting in the coming days to continue discussions.
He added that efforts are underway to elect the Kurdistan Parliament presidency next month.
On the issue of salaries, Mohammed said that both sides are working on an improved agreement between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government to resolve outstanding disputes in line with the Iraqi constitution.
