Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) PM Assistant Rebaz Hamlan announced that a KRG delegation has arrived in Baghdad to discuss the issue of public sector salaries and the region’s share of federal revenues.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Hamlan said that the delegation will meet with the Iraqi side to finalize discussions on the type and amount of revenues, stressing that, "According to the law and the constitution, the revenues are determined, and an agreement will be reached on half of the federal revenues.”
He explained that the Iraqi government has tied the transfer of salaries to Kurdistan’s public employees with non-oil revenues and oil exports. The KRG, he added, is hopeful that a resolution will be reached during the current talks.
Hamlan further emphasized that there are no outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad on the oil file, noting that the Kurdistan Region will continue to deal with oil companies in line with existing contracts, while addressing any problems with the companies directly.
