SULAIMANI — Several mortars fell in the vicinity of Qushtapa
sub-district in Erbil governorate on Tuesday (August 24) without causing any
casualties.
Shekhan village's chief told NRT that one of the mortars fell
near a farm. The extent of the damage is not known yet.
He said that it is not clear from where the mortars were
fired.
NRT reporter Hersh Qadir said that Pashtapa, Tatarawa, and
several other villages on Erbil-Kirkuk main road were targeted.
Later, Peshmerga Commander of Western Kirkuk axis Nuri Hama Ali
told NRT that the mortars appear to have been fired from Dibis district and investigations
are ongoing.
He said that Peshmerga forces have found four mortars so far
and they are likely to be more.
"It is the third time this year our axes have been targeted,”
he added.
