SULAIMANI — Five rockets were fired at a Turkish military base near Bashiqa on Friday evening (September 24), a security source told NRT.
The rockets targeted the Zelikan base in Nineveh province, northeast of Mosul. Only three of the rockets exploded, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
No casualties were reported.
The camp was targeted last April, killing one Turkish soldier and wounding a child in a nearby village.
Iran-backed militias were blamed for that attack.
Iraq’s parliamentary elections are just weeks away, with the appearance of resistance to US and Turkish influence in Iraq a key political point for those militias and their party affiliates.
