Several key political forces, including Komal, Yekgirtu, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), are holding meetings to form a new coalition in the disputed territories, also known as the 140 Areas, ahead of the Iraqi parliamentary elections.

This political move comes amid recent fragmentation among opposition parties. Despite earlier efforts to unify and present a joint electoral front against the PUK and KDP, some opposition groups have withdrawn and chosen not to participate in today’s meeting.

Now, Komal has joined the PUK, KDP, and several other parties in negotiations to create a coalition that could reshape the electoral dynamics in the disputed regions.

The outcome of these discussions may significantly impact political representation in these contested areas during the upcoming elections.
