SULAIMANI — Spokesperson for Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed al-Sahaf said on Tuesday (September 14) that Russia will resume flights with the country from September 21 at the request of the federal government.

Al-Sahaf said in a statement that the decision was made following the recent visit of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to Russia.

He said that authorities in Russia agreed to the request by two flights per week.

On Monday, Moscow announced that it will also resume flights to Spain, Kenya, and Slovakia on September 21.

Russia suspended flights with several countries in March 2020 as part of protective measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
