SULAIMANI — Federal Police in Kirkuk governorate seized a large quantity of unexploded ordinance in Riyadh sub-district on Friday (October 16).

Yehia Rasool, spokesperson for Iraq’s Commander-in-Chief, tweeted that the police force, working in coordination with intelligence agencies were able to capture and secure 53 mortar shells, 75 detonators, and three tank shells in the al-Shuhada neighborhood.

Militant groups use the explosives in the construction of improvised explosive devices and hidden cashes can pose a danger to civilians.
