SULAIMANI — Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) said on Friday (October 15) that the results from the parliamentary election that have been announced so far are preliminary, with the full counting process approximately 70 percent complete.

In a statement from its media office, IHEC said that it had met its commitment to release preliminary results within 24 hours of polls closing on October 10 and has been working in subsequent days to make sure that the electronic and manual counts fully match.

When the process of doing manual checks is completed, the final results will be released.

At that point, there will be a three-day period for parties, candidates, and individuals to file complaints. That process will be observed by UN, EU, and local observers, as well as human rights groups and the Supreme Security Committee.
