1,253 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Sunday (September 19) it officially recorded 1,253 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 601 new cases in Sulaimani Governorate, 437 in Erbil, 119 in Duhok, 57 in the Garmian administration, and 39 in Halabja.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said seventeen patients had died from the disease, while 1,476 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 318,820 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 285,350 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,712 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
