634 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Saturday (September 18) it officially recorded 634 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 472 new cases in Duhok, 79 in Sulaimani Governorate, 51 in Erbil, 32 in the Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said nineteen patients had died from the disease, while 1,412 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 317,567 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 283,874 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,695 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
