SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Friday (September 17) it officially recorded 1,378 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 672 new cases in Sulaimani governorate, 325 in Erbil, 247 in Duhok, 64 in the Garmian administration, 41 in Halabja, and 29 in the Raparin administration.

On July 26, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 3,559 infections.

The ministry also said nineteen patients had died from the disease, while 1,567 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 316,933 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 282,462 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,682 have died from it.
